Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how 18-30 Futures ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our platform ("the Platform"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following personal data:
- Account data: your name and email address when you register as a member.
- Newsletter data: your first name, last name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Content submissions: information you provide when submitting articles, manuscripts, comments, or partner listings.
- Usage data: anonymised analytics about how you interact with the Platform.
3. Newsletter Subscriptions
When you subscribe to the 18-30 Futures newsletter, we use a third-party email service provider (Brevo) to manage your subscription. We only subscribe you when you have actively consented by ticking the agreement box on the sign-up form.
Your first name, last name and email address are transferred to Brevo solely for the purpose of sending you the newsletter. You will be asked to confirm your subscription via email. We do not add registered members to the newsletter automatically — newsletter consent is always given separately.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email, and we will remove you from the newsletter list.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to:
- Provide and improve the Platform and its services.
- Send you the newsletter where you have consented.
- Communicate with you about your membership and submissions.
- Respond to your enquiries and requests.
5. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Consent: for newsletter subscriptions and optional communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Contract: to provide membership services you have signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: for Platform security, fraud prevention, and improving our services.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the Platform (such as our email service provider, Brevo), under written agreements that require them to protect your data in line with UK GDPR.
7. Data Retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out).
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
9. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit, secure storage of API keys, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal data, please contact us through the Platform's contact page.
