UK phone provider gets meaningful award

Admin 8/13/2026 3.0 (5 ratings)

UK mobile phone provider Meaningful Planet has been awarded a top ethics rating of 100 from The Good Shopping Guide, placing it among the most ethical companies the guide researches.

Founded in 2023, Meaningful Planet’s physical SIMs are made from 100 percent recycled plastic and posted in biodegradable wildflower seed paper that can be planted in a garden. The company tracks emissions via individual SIMs through the Ai-powered MILO platform and uses verified UK peatland and forestry projects to offset them.

Working with UK Wildlife Trusts, the ‘Living Wage’ employer allocates 10 percent of its business profits and 10 percent of every personal bill to projects including seagrass planting in the Solent, kelp forest recovery in Sussex, peatland restoration in the Great Fen and even beaver reintroduction at the Nene Wetlands.

The Good Shopping Guide has assessed companies and published ethical ratings since 2001. Its methodology considers a company’s impact across the environment, people, animals, and other areas of corporate conduct.

“Businesses should not have to choose between reliable connectivity, commercial value, and responsible procurement,” says Meaningful Planet. “A credible business mobile provider still needs to get the fundamentals right: dependable coverage, clear bills, manageable contracts, responsive support, and straightforward control over every SIM. Sustainability cannot compensate for a poor service.

“Equally, sustainability should mean more than a statement on a corporate responsibility page. It should influence how a service is priced, managed, measured, and improved.”
